Historically many groups of people have occupied and used the area in and around Morton Park and English Bay. This park attempts to reflect the unique characteristics of these populations through the use of materials and expressions of typology. It is a hard surface European style plaza, built with local materials, aimed at drawing the diverse community of Vancouver together, through its construction and eventual experience. The plaza connects the immigrant designed city with the natural foreshore and indigenous building practices, represented by a series of bridges devolving from north to south, the bridges deconstruct from a shadow of the former pier spanning a refection pool.
